Roads less traveled.

I was heading home from a morning of hunting in the fall of 2008. For some reason, I decided to take a longer route home. As I traveled up and down the narrow winding road, the skies were overcast and the leaves were gleaming on this day.  This photo was the moment that caused me to want to capture more of the beauty of what God has created here on earth.  I've often wondered how beautiful heaven must be. One verse in the bible quotes. 1 Corinthians 2:9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

By his Mercy and Grace, I'll see it some day.

At times I wonder if my photography is my road to take or not.  I've driven down this little narrow backroad every fall since and not once have I seen the colors as beautiful as in this photo. I'm sure glad I took that road on that day in Nov of 2008.

God's handiwork sure is beautiful. I just ask Him to lead me on the right road.

"Memories from the past"

June 06, 2016  •  Leave a Comment
I was born and raised in the back woods of Monroe County Ky. When I was a small child, I would sit on the porch and listen for my dad's shotgun to ring out across the hills. I knew he had a squirrel.  I learned at a early age how life can change in a moment. When I was nine, I wanted a gun for Christmas to be like my Dad. He said when I responsible enough, he would get me one.  On Dec 23 he left home to do some shopping. I was excited thinking this might be the year. Later he came home and sat down then just in a few moments passed away from a heart attack.  Life or Christmas was never the same.

A few years later after lots of promises and lectures, I talked mom into letting me buy a gun.   My passion grew to hunt as I got older. I hunted for over thirty years with a gun and bow. Archery was my passion for years.  I've seen amazing sights out in God's creation through the years. I bought a camera to pack out in the woods and my passion for photography grew. Most people who has known me over the years can't believe I put down my bow and arrow for a camera. Photography brings me a peace of mind while out in nature.  If my photography brings someone a smile or a memory from the past, all the cold mornings are worth is all.
